Treatment Principle:

A 10600nm wavelength laser targets water tissue, penetrating the skin by 20-30µm. Since the epidermis is 70-120µm thick, CO2 only affects the epidermis. The laser emitter splits the laser beam into smaller beams, delivering them to the skin at the fastest speed. This allows the heat to reach the skin in stages, giving the skin a buffer period to absorb the heat, resulting in better pain reduction and fewer side effects. The control system allows for easy adjustment of key parameters such as the scanning pattern, pattern size, micropulse energy, density, and number of repetitions. Fractional lasers can emit focal spots of 50μm-80μm through a high-focusing lens and scan these focal spots into up to 6 types of rectangular patterns (circle, square, rectangle, rhombus, triangle, and line), which are suitable for different areas and skin types.

CO2 Laser Treatment Scope:

Skin Resurfacing: Improves stubborn pigmentation, hyperpigmentation, photodamaged skin, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, dull skin, fine wrinkles, etc.

Repairs burns, surgical scars, acne pits, etc. (mature scars no higher or lower than 2mm above or below the skin).

Removes benign skin growths, including moles, warts, xanthelasma palpebrarum, flat warts, syringomas, etc.

Skin resurfacing principle:

Utilizing the photobiological thermal effect and minimally invasive effect of lasers, the dermis is appropriately stimulated or damaged, triggering the skin’s repair mechanism. This stimulates the regeneration and restructuring of dermal collagen, thereby achieving the desired wrinkle-reducing and skin-rejuvenating effects.

Scar Repair: (Treatment Course: 2-4 sessions/course, 3 months/session)

Utilizing the minimally invasive effect of CO2 fractional laser, scars and pits are treated with minimal invasiveness to activate the skin’s compensatory regeneration function, achieving the goal of scar repair.

Removal of Skin Growths: (Treatment Course: 4-8 sessions/course, 2-3 months/session)

When the 10600nm wavelength laser energy acts on the target tissue, 99% of the laser energy is absorbed by the water in the target tissue (70% of human tissue is water), generating high heat and steam. This vaporizes the water molecules, allowing for coagulation, burning, and excision of the target tissue, thereby removing benign skin growths.

CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment Modes

SCAN Scan Mode: This mode is a skin resurfacing mode, used for treating enlarged pores, rough skin, wrinkles, aging skin, surface pigmentation, acne scars, and various mature scars.

Normal Cutting Mode: This mode is used to remove benign skin growths.

Fractional Laser Scanning Mode:

Laser Energy: Laser energy, range 5-45W, commonly around 10W.

Scanning Mode: Normal (ordered scan): Slightly more painful.

Random (disordered scan): Slightly less painful. Square mode is adjustable, rectangular mode is not. Recommended for full-face skin resurfacing.

Super: Ultra-pulse, commonly used to remove benign skin growths such as senile warts. Defocusing is required during operation. Not recommended for beginners. Energy adjustable from 1-30W, commonly 5W. Lower energy results in less damage.

REPEAT: Repeated pulse mode. Generally recommended for beginners, as it is relatively safe and used for small moles. Commonly used energy is 4-6W.

Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing and Scar Repair Treatment Parameters

Post-Treatment Precautions

Use EGF during treatment for simultaneous repair.

Apply a sterile mask (refrigerated) to soothe and repair the skin.

Spray EGF for 3-7 days.

Avoid contact with water for 3-5 days to prevent infection.

During the scab formation period, apply hyaluronic acid and repair moisturizing cream, allowing the scab to fall off naturally; do not rub.

After the scab falls off, focus on moisturizing. Do not use masks during the scab formation period; masks can only be used after the scab falls off. Apply vitamin C to prevent pigmentation recurrence.

Avoid spicy foods, seafood, and other irritating foods for one week after treatment.

Avoid using functional cosmetics during the treatment course.

Pay attention to sun protection: use physical sunscreen before the scab falls off, then use chemical sunscreen.

What conditions can fractional laser treatment be used for?

1. Treatment of acne and acne scars, etc.
2. Removal of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, such as crow’s feet;

Fractional laser treatment has the following contraindications:

Post-treatment precautions for CO2 fractional laser treatment:

[Immediately after treatment] Immediately begin skin care. Apply a suitable medical mask for 0.5-1 hour, and apply a skin barrier repair gel containing ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and epidermal growth factor. This can effectively reduce erythema, soothe pain, and prevent pigmentation.

[Before the scabs fall off (3-7 days)] Within 3 days after treatment, it is not recommended to wash your face with tap water or facial cleanser. You can gently wipe your face with saline solution. 3-7 days after treatment, you can begin washing your face with plain water.

[After the scabs fall off (7-10 days later)] You can use skincare products normally after the scabs fall off, but it is not recommended to use irritating skincare products and makeup in the short term. After the scabs fall off, to prevent pigmentation, you can apply or infuse a serum containing L-ascorbic acid/tranexamic acid + serum containing ceramides, hyaluronic acid, etc. In addition, if the skin is significantly red and swollen, it is recommended to apply a cold compress (medical mask) 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes each time. If there is still obvious redness on the skin after the scabs fall off, pay special attention to sun protection and continue to apply epidermal growth factor (twice a day) until the redness completely subsides.

Post-operative precautions:

1. After treatment, there will be redness, swelling, bleeding, pain, burning, scabbing, and peeling.
2. If the treated area is large, there is a chance of developing herpes simplex. Oral antiviral medication may be prescribed.
3. There is a chance of developing acne-like rashes within one week.
4. After treatment, clean the treated area with water or saline solution as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid using excessively hot water and strong cleansing products (such as soap). Avoid using irritating skincare products, such as abrasive cleansers, scrubs, and skincare products containing alcohol/fruit acids, for at least two weeks after treatment.
5. If scabs form, do not pick at them or remove them by other means; allow them to fall off naturally (approximately 7-10 days).
6. Strict sun protection is required after treatment. When going out, it is recommended to use a parasol and sun hat. After the scabs fall off, apply a physical sunscreen/lotion (SPF=30, PA+++).
7. Some people may experience pigmentation after laser treatment. This is normal. Please maintain a positive attitude and healthy lifestyle. It usually improves and fades significantly within 3-6 months.
8. Avoid high-temperature environments, such as hot saunas, hot yoga, and strenuous exercise that causes excessive sweating, for one week after treatment.
9. Try to avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, and eating spicy foods for one week after treatment.
